Vera Danchenko-Stern is an internationally acclaimed artist, chamber player, and teacher who has gained recognition as one of the foremost coaches and pianists in her field. She has received great praise from conservatories and universities, endearing herself to her students and colleagues for her professionalism, dependability, and caring.
Born in Russia, she was both a graduate and faculty member of the esteemed Gnessin Institute of Music in Moscow. Her artistic and teaching career in the former Soviet Union has qualified her as an accompanist for singers and instrumentalists, and as a piano teacher.
Ms. Danchenko-Stern lived in Toronto for 13 years and was on the faculty of piano, Royal Conservatory of Music, where she taught piano and the art of piano accompaniment for voice and instruments. There she became an experienced vocal coach.
Now living in the United States, she specializes in coaching singers in Russian Art ongs and operatic repertoire. Ms. Danchenko-Stern is currently a piano instructor at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore where she also teaches the “singing in Russian” course.
Ms. Danchenko-Stern’s vast experience and knowledge have been exhibited on her numerous tours performing as an accompanist throughout Russia, Europe, the United States, and the Far East. She and her brother, noted violinist Victor Danchenko, have toured extensively throughout North America and Europe performing to sold-out houses. She has also accompanied such renowned artists as Ilya Kaler, Triple Gold Medalist, and exquisite American soprano, Carmen Balthrop, among others.
